Facilities
We are a historic church situated in the centre of the Saanich Peninsula - a little white church nestled under the trees. We can seat approximately 80 people comfortably. All of our buildings are handicapped accessible.
Do you welcome the LGBTQ2S+ community?
Yes. As an Affirming Congregation, we will perform weddings for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
Are you open to creative ceremonies?
Yes! Our minister will work with you to develop a creative, thoughtful worship service...a one-of-a-kind ceremony to remember.
Can a friend or family member conduct our wedding?
All weddings in our sanctuary are officiated by our minister, with exceptions to be discussed with our lead minister. Involving family and friends can be an enriching experience, so we invite you to discuss this further with our minister.
Will your minister conduct a wedding ceremony outdoors or in another location?
Yes! We are quite willing to meet with you and discuss options.
What about music?
Our Music Director will be happy to work with you in consultation with our minister, to ensure you have a very personal and delightful arrangement for your wedding.
Can we bring decorations?
Yes. Many couples choose to have flower arrangements, bows on seats, candles and a wide variety of decorations for their ceremony. The possibilities are endless! Our wedding host can help you with this.
How much will it cost?
This will be discussed with you when meeting with our Minister.
Can we hold a reception following the service?
Yes. The Shadywood Centre's capacity is 65 people. We also have a VIHA certified commercial kitchen. Both of these can be rented separately, and information can be found here. Or contact our office for more information officecsuc@shaw.ca

Absolutely! We welcome all who come to us in a time when they need comfort and support.
What might we expect at the service?
We celebrate and remember those who have lived among us, and we hope to bring comfort to those who are experiencing a time of sorrow. We do this in the context of a worship service. The minister will discuss this with you, as appropriate to your needs.
What about music?
Our Music Director is quite willing to play music you choose. Recorded music or musicians are always considered and are included as part of the discussion with our minister.
Is the service required to be at the church?
Our minister is willing to discuss venues outside the church buildings, as appropriate.
Can a reception be held following the service?

Do you welcome LGBTQ2S+ couples and individuals?
Yes! We welcome couples to the Central Saanich United Church congregation for baptism, and we are pleased to welcome their children as well.
What about preparation for the baptism?
Our minister will be happy to talk with you, to share information related to the baptism and discuss any questions you may have.
Do we need to be members of your congregation?
No. Baptism is God's gift. We welcome your children, and recognize that they are God's children, as we all are.
How much will it cost?
Baptism is conducted as part of the Sunday worship service. Anything that you choose to donate as part of the usual offering is up to you. Tax receipts will be issued for any donations of $25 or over.
What happens after the Service?
We have a refreshment and fellowship time after Worship, which you are invited to join with us.
